    doing their tasks.
The master had to sit on an old chair at the end of the long table at which the scholars used to stand. Some of the scholars were bad and more were good. There was no fireplace in the old stable and there were no fire in the cold winter days, therefore the scholars brought no turf. They used to write on slates with slate pencil and some times on paper with ink and pencil.
He used to punish each scholar if he did anything wrong, with his long thin cane. These are the names of some of the scholars who attended the school. Ellen Higgins, Bridget Hopkins, Denis Forde, James O Neill, Pat Maloney, Thomas Fallon, Pat Hopkins, Pat Joyce, Micil Naughton and Mick Lynott. Before the big scholars went home in the evening they had to take out the planks, the stones and the table and leave them outside until morning, and bring them in again in the morning
