  1. Skehard house was built about ninety years ago. It was first built on the Moate river by the Burkis, but it was afterwards changed and built a little distance from the river.
    There was a field a little distance away from the house in which were all kinds of bushes growning, (in it) and all kinds of trees growing round it, and that is the reason why the village is now called Skehard.
    At that time it was one of the nicest residence of the West, and no-body went in only the nobility. There was a gate-house at each end of the avenue leading to the house, and a gate man lived in each
