- Situation - Marshall's well is situated in the Townland of Gubachreeny about one mile North of the village of Kinlough in the North of Co Leitrim.Story: - Father Marshall wass a Parish Priest in Kinlaugh about 300 years ago. He was a very old religious man and the people of the parish and neighboring parishes used to go to hi m to get an office read for some special favors or when some member of the family was ill or some beast sick. Those poor people had great belief in the efficacy of his prayers because they were never known to fail. But when his name travelled far and wide he was much bothered with a constant stream of people coming to have an office read; so he thought the best thing he could do was to bless some spring well in the district and let the people bring some of the water from this blessed well home with them as a cure to be kept in the house, drunk by the sick person or given to the sick animal.Rules to be observed: - When going for this water you had to go fasting from 12 o'c the night before.
