  1. I am now going to describe the game of Lord Duke, Lord John or Apple and Orange:- Two girls go away and one chooses an apple and another an orange. The rest catch others backs and keep singing -
    "Lord Duke, Lord John,
    Let them all pass on
    To the very last one."
At the same time passing out under the joined hands of the other two. The last one stands and says whether she prefers an apple or an orange. She then holds on to the person she supports. This continues till all have chosen. Then both teams pull against each other and whatever party pulls without falling or letting go their hold wins.
