  1. A certain man who lives in the townland of Moynsha hired a servant-boy at the market in Abbeyfeale. He was a good servant in every way but was lazy getting up in the morning. The farmer had a flock of ducks which were never put into a house. They slept in the yard in front of the house every night. Every morning when calling the boy to get up the farmer said "Get up Jack dont you hear the ducks saying day, day, day," This occurred nearly every morning. When Xmas (Every) Eve came the boy called the master very early on that morning. "Get up Sir said he; dont you hear the ducks saying pay, pay, pay."
