  1. Chalk-Sunday.
It is the Sunday before Lent begins. It is the custom in some places to "chalk" old maids and bachelors.
    St John's Day.
Bonfires are lights - a bone to put in the fire. There is music and dancing.
    Halloweve.
Cabbage is stolen? from the neighbours gardens and the doors are beaten with it.
There is a feast, apples nuts and a barmbrack, with a ring in it. (a sloe and a nut too). Whoever gets the ring will get married first.
