    The first day of March in the year eighty-two,
    Our moonlighter went rambling their rent-books to view,
    They viewed them all over without fear or dread,
    Well armed with rifles, with powder and lead.
    They entered the house of Jer Lawlor's we hear,
    They fired a few volleys which shook him with fear.
    He made them a promise before that they went,
    Until Ireland be free he would pay no more rent.
    The police being in patroll that very same night.
