- There is a stone in Mr Willis Hoffman's farm in Ballymacelligott. It is in the same spot for a very long time. Nobody would think of moving it. It is supposed to be fired at by Fionn Mac Cumhaill from a place called Mount Nicholas, a distance of about three miles from where it is. There is also a legend about gold being hidden under a certain tree in the same farm. Several people have tried for it but nobody has been successful so far. The gold was placed there by a King who lived in Ballymacelligott a very long time ago.
