“Carraig an Aifrinn: Tradition says this was a Mass rock...”
Tradition says this was a Mass rock. It is situated in the farm of Mrs Timothy O'Shea in Cumnakilla in parish of Templenoe - Kenmare. Mass used be celebrated there in penal times. There is a cillín situate near. It also appears that the ruins (now only loose stones flung broadcast) of an old church are also near the Mass rock - probably gave the origin to name Cum na Cille - as it is in a hollow of the hillside. "Big wild daisies grow round the rock".
Cúm an Aifrinn: a hollow in farm of Myles Nash, Ankeal (Ankail) Tahilla, in which Mass was celebrated in penal times according to local tradition.
