“There were a great many cures for sickness in the olden times.”
There were a great many cures for sickness in the olden times. The people said the juice of ivy was good for warts. It is also said that rats' broth was good for the whooping cough and the measles. If the sick person met a man with a white horse and asked him for a cure for the whooping cough whatever he would mention would cure it. Long ago children were put round a donkey while saying in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy ghost and it cured the whooping cough. The ferrets' leavings also cured the whooping cough. The donkey's milk was good for whooping cough also.
