  1. There was a man named Kiernan from Clough (near Granard) Not far from his house there was a swamp. Every night that he went by that place he saw a dark person, but he never spoke a word to him. He told the priest about it but the priest did not believe him. After a week he went to the priest again and the priest said he would go to the place with him some night. When they came to the place the man saw the person again, but the priest could see nothing. Then the priest put his hands
