attending Mass. He had not attended Mass for three years when one night a knock came to the door. He opened the door and in walked a child. The child asked him for lodgings for the night. The man made a bed in the corner of the kitchen for the child and went to bed.
In the morning, when he got up, the child had gone and the doors were still looked. In the corner where the child's bed was, there lay a note and on it was written the words "Go to Mass". The man started to attend Mass and never missed it again.
Long ago, a woman ceased going to Mass. She was a very holy woman until one Sunday when she was at Mass a child of hers was burned to death. She ceased attending Mass then. One Sunday, when the woman was in bed, she took a pain. She was near(ly) dying. She made a promise that if she got better, she would never miss Mass on a Sunday again. The pain went in ten minutes, and ever after this, she kept to her promise.
A man ceased attending Mass long ago. He used to laugh at the people for going. He used to work on Sundays. One Sunday, when Mass was going on, he went out and started to reap oats. He took a pain and nearly died. He made a promise that if he got better, he would attend Mass again. He got better and started to attend Mass again.
