  1. I have heard of sad happenings, but I have never heard of any, as sad as that of "The Drowning of Lough Sillan."
    It was a Master, who promised to take his scholars for a sail in his boat. The week before this sad occurrence, he told his scholars he would take them in his boat for a sail.
    The children, hearing this, were delighted.
    On the morning of the 25th July in the year 1879, he told his wife and scholars that he was now ready to take them for the sail in his boat.
    The Master, his wife and seventeen scholars left the school and went to the boat.
    They got in and left the shore, and as they were leaving
