    It is said that the weather can be judged by the behaviour of certain birds. If the migratory birds appear and are heard in the early Summer it is a sign that the warm weather is approaching. If they remain longer with us than usual it is a sign that cold weather is not yet near hand. When the swallows fly high it is a sign of fine weather and if they fly low it is a sign of rain or that poor weather is drawing near.
    When birds fly inland it is a sign of approaching storm and if they fly seawards it is a sign of continuing good weather. If the crane flies towards the bog it is a sign of bad weather and if it flies away from the bog it is a sign of good weather. It is said that the Robin picked the thorns from Christ's Brow and the blood which gushed forth stained its breast and that is the reason it
