- Weddings generally take place about Shrove and at latest Shrove Tuesday. Monday, Tuesday and Saturday are said to be unlucky day for weddings. Sometimes matches are made in the district. If a man was going to be married, he took some of his friends to the house of the bride. If the mother and father of the girl are content with the match they arrange the day on which the wedding is to take place.
Some brides who can afford it are dressed in white gowns with veils. Long ago those attending the wedding rode home on horseback, as there were no motor-cars then. They raced to the house of the bride. After the wedding was over They went there for the wedding feast.- Collector
