In their tents on Waggon Hill.But a sound disturbed their slumber
From the dark ravine below.
Which be-spoke the treacherous stealing
Of a cunning coward foe.In a moment all was bustle.
Each one hurrying to the fray
Soon each featring was marshalled
In the battle's dread array.Boer and Briton joined the conflict
In a deadly rifle fire
Till at square the British bayonets
