- Many years ago, after the great War an epidemic of Influenza ravaged Ireland and the result was death in many cases. In this town of Castleblaney it claimed many victims. They were mostly old people who were unable to bear the strain imposed on the heart. Pneumonia very often set in and scarcely anyone suffering from Influenza and Pneumonia combined recovered.
