  1. On Christmas Night it is the custom to light a Christmas candle and place it in the window to give light to the Blessed Virgin and St. Joseph passing. The candle is lit by the youngest person in the house and is left burning all night.
The doors are left on the latch that night and a good fire is put down. The kitchen is brushed before going to bed and chairs settled around the fire, in order to show that the people of the house would be glad to welcome the Holy Family.
