Mrs Jane Hanley aged 83 years New Ruskey Parish of KIlglass told me some proverbs
1) A stitch in time saves nine.
2) The early bird gets the early worm.
3) For want of a nail the shoe was lost. For want of a shoe the the horse was lost. For want of a horse the rider was lost. For want of a rider the army was lost. for want of an army the country was lost. All for the want of a nail.
4) Out of the frying pan into the fire.
5)Hills are green far away.
6) Make hay while the sun shines.
7) Like father like son.
8) Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.
9) Fine weather makes fine birds.
10) Kind words never wear the tongue.
