- St. Barry's Well
My granny Mrs Jane Cox of New Ruskey told me about the holy well that is in KIlbarry.
She said it is beside St. Barry's Church. People make pilgrimages to it in the Summer in the month of July. They do stations round the well and say some prayers.
When they are leaving they leave relics of something behind them. They go round the well nine times in their bare feet and they say the rosary. There is a statue of St. Barry beside the well and people doing the stations put a piece of ribbon each time as they go round the well.
The little bush is all covered with strings. The people tie a piece of string on each time as they do a station so as to remember the number of times. You could not boil the water of the well. Some people have been cured at this well by drinking its water.
