- (continued from previous page)light. Dip candles and mould candles were also made by dipping plated into melted fat. Mould candles were made by pouring melted fat into a mould. A wick made of twisted cotton thread was let down through the centre. The mould was then left cool and when the candle was turned out it was fit for use.
