- Lyre Grave-yard is surrounding the Church and is not yet 100 years old.
Trees are growing inside the walls and the eastern half is now taken up with graves but there are about a dozen graves in the Western half. There are some beautiful modern head-stones and one tomb which was erected to Canon Murphy who was then Parish Preist and whose death occurred in 1882. The tomb is covered by big slab of lime-stone. The local people pay rounds at his grave and have great faith in his intercession. This grave-yard also contains the grave of Denis Horgan Fermoyle Banteer, the great world champion for throwing the hammer. His grave is however unmarked by any head-stone. The largest head-stone is erected to the memory of Daniel O'Callaghan of Inchemay Banteer who was a famous hurler.
