in Cooga. People say that it was so called because it used to be ploughed every year long ago, and they used to sow oats, and wheat there long ago. Other people say that it means the field of the sleepers. The old people say that if you go into it before nightfall you would not be able to get out of it before day-break.

    DANGAN CASTLE
is so called because in olden times there was a very strongly fortified castle there long ago. A woman named "Máire Ruadh" is supposed to have lived there long ago. The castle is about half a mile east of Ballynacally village.
