- When the robin comes round the house it is a sign of hardship.
There is an old saying:-
When the cuckoo sings on a bare thorn,
Sell our cow and buy corn
It is said that the robin was at the foot of the cross and a drop of Our Lord's blood fell on it breast. - If the swallows fly low it is a sign of rain and if they fly high it it a sign of fine weather.
If the curlew and seagulls cry loudly it is a sign of rain.
The robin is said to have tried to pull a thorn out of Our Lord's head and a drop of blood fell on his breast.- Collector
