    There are very few customs observed now-a-days in regard to milking.
    In former times people always kept a bunch of Heather or a St Brigid's cross hung in the cow-stable to bring luck to their cows. Women used to sing while milking as the reckoned it soothing the cow and she gave her milk freely and more of it.
