   There are very few customs observed now-a-days in regard to milking. In former times people always kept a bunch of Heather or a St Brigid's cross hung in the cow-stable to bring luck to their cows. Women used to sing while milking as the reckoned it soothing the cow and she gave her milk freely and more of it. The last drop of milk they rubbed it to the cows udder and then made the sign of the cross on the
