  1. First the ground is ploughed into ridges or drills. Then the manure is spread.
    The potatoes are dropped across the ridge about a foot apart, or if set in drills they are dropped one after another about half-a-foot apart.
    They are set in drills with a plough and they are set in ridges with spades.
    When they are three inches above the soil they are moulded, and about three weeks later they are sprayed.
