  1. A Song

Now, we happened to be born

Now, we happened to be born,
At the time they cut the corn,
Quite contagious to the place we are still in,
And to teach us they did schame,
And to Cabra School we came,
To see if at the learnin's we'd be willin',
    There they teach the A.B.C.,
You may learn the rule of three,
But at readin' and at writin' you will find,
    Every seat of knowledge,
From a hedge school to a college,
That by Cabra School it is left far behind.
    Chorus.
You may talk of Dublin city,
    Of the fellows of Trinity,
Och! sure it is a pity,
    Every on them's a fool.
And it's they would drive you crazy,
But at learnin' your'e a daisy,
If you say your lessons aisy,
As we do at Cabra School.

Now, we have to work all day,
And we've little time to play,
