- The people used to make their own clothes out of wool. The wool was first washed and dyed with plants. Then it used to be carded and carried to the mill to be woven and then it (used to be) spun. It (used to be) a customary thing long ago for people to make their own baskets. They used to make them out of sally twigs. Long ago the people used to make candles out of goats' tallow. They used to bury it in the bog until it would be fit to melt. Then it used to be put into a mould and then a wick would be drawn through it.
