- The local fairs are held in Listowel town. They are on every second Wednesday and there are three big fairs in the year, the thirteenth of May, twentyfifth of July and twenty-eight of October. In most cases luck money is given and it is called luck penny. If a price is offered and if the owner of the animal doesn't think that suitable a neighbour steps in and he will split the difference. Every gobber has a different mark. They mark them with chalk and paint.
