  1. The different tribes of tinkers that visit our district are the O'Brians, Carthys. They make baskets and sell them for six pence or a shilling. They make tables and chairs and sell them. They sell combs and candlesticks and holy pictures and brooches. They also beg for flour and meal and other things that support life. They travel in car from place to place and they sometimes stay on the side of the road near some shady place and remain there for a couple of days.
