  1. Many old name places occur in this district. There is an old place in Ballyheigue in Mrs. Casey's field and there is an old lot of stones there about the height of three houses. It is called Clogher. The people say that the rocks were brought there long ago by an old woman who had them in her apron and a hole burst in it, and some fell in Timothy Gaynor's field and others in Maulin mountain.
    Long ago Fionn Mac Cuihiul and the Fianna were living in this district for some time.
