    Then if there was any rib or dirt in it they would scrape it in to a bowl and hot water is then poured in to it and the collar is dipped in it.The starch makes the clothes yellow.
    Then they used put two spoons of flour in to cold water and keep stirring until it was as thin as milk.Then throw it in to the boiling water and it would thicken up and make the clothes as hard as frost.
