- The saint was travelling one day from the Barony of Fort to build a church some few miles away (from Taghmon) He was carting stones with an ass and cart. Some chaps (garsoons), it seems, followed him and started jeering at him.
The Saint became very angry, and in the impulse of the moment turned around and cursed them.
Sometime after, however, he got sorry and he took the curse off the boys and put it on the tops of the rushes and the butt of the bushes; and to this day the bushes remain withered at the buts, and the rushes are withered at the tops and if you want to find out the truth of this legend, you can go yourself for a stroll to the Moorland, some fine day, and see for yourself.
