  1. Many stories are told of what was formerly known as Misterin House, which was owned in days gone by by a Protestant family named Whitneys.
    My grandfather told me the following story many years ago.
    There was a Mr. Boxwell of Sarskill who although a protestant joined the insurgents in '98, and of course he was detested for it by his protestant neighbours.
    After the battle of Ross he was returned home along the byroad through Misterin and he was shot in cold blood by one of the Whitneys who afterwards buried him in a corner of the little grove just as he fell.
    A descendant of his wanted my grandfather to dig up the grave
