- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)were sometimes tied in the corners of the houses. There were no outhouses there were no braces on the mantle pieces in these houses. The fire was in the middle of the floor or at the gable where the brace should be. Turf and wood were used for the fire.
Rush candles were used as lights. These uses were called bull rushes which were peeled and dipped in grease. When dry and stiff they were called rush candles.
Half doors which were used are still to be found. During the day the half doors were closed and the big doors were open to keep the house aired.- Bailitheoir
