  1. Oat meal bread, potatoes and milk were the main food of the people in olden times. People made cheese and butter in the homes. Some of this they consumed but the most of it was sold in the market. Meat was only used at Christmas and on special days for example flax-pulling day. Home cured bacon was eaten mostly in the winter time. People only took three meals a day. They worked for about an hour before breakfast.
