“There were two men drowned in Ballyvoreen river about five years ago.”
There were two men drowned in Ballyvoreen river about five years ago. One was Thomas Walsh a native of Ballyvoreen and the other was Phillip Hogan a native of Portnard. John Ryan's house in Ragroad was burned about eight years ago. And Thomas Benton's of Boarmanshill was burned last year. No lives were lost in the burning. The only sickness was the flu and the diptheria and the measles. Many people ded with the flu and the diphtheria in the district.
