- Marriages take place usually during Shrove or on Shrove Tuesday. May and August are the unlucky months of the year. especially August, for the sheaf that was tied in Autumn was ripped in Spring. There are matches made in my district, and there is money or presents given to the couple. On the day of the wedding the people usually go in motors. In olden times the people used to go on horses or in chariots. But nowadays they have better ways for travelling. When other people see them going it is the usual thing to throw a shoe after the car to wish them good luck. Wedding feasts are held on that day. Those people go off on their honeymoon, for a week or two. When they come home they hold a dancer with dancing, singing and drinking. Sometimes the people make up a song about it, they would not put any harm in it. Those people get alot of presents.
