- Marriages usually take place in Shrove or on Shrove or on Shrove Tuesday. May and August are supposed to be unlucky. People in olden times usually rode on horse back or in chariots. Long ago the people who were getting married were married in their own houses that is about fifty or sixty years ago. They used to have great wedding feasts. Now people have a better way for travelling they go on motorcars to the church. When they come home they hold a fest to which they invite the neighbours around the district.
