- The most harmful weeds on my father's farm are nettles, thistles and docks. The thistle one of the most harmful of weeds spreads rapidly through the land affecting the growth of the grass. A still more harmful weed is the dock which when it takes root cannot be got out of the soil except by difficult means. The thistle is found only in good land.
The dock serves as a food stuff for pigs and the nettles when boiled are mixed with turkeys food.
