- There is a well in James Lynch's field of Carrickavee and on the 14th of May every one was up at dawn to get the first gallon of water out of it. They thought it was lucky.
The people on May Day used to tie a bit of red flannel and a little bit of a blessed candle in it to the cow's tail for luck and to have milk.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile) - Faisnéiseoir
