  1. Long ago they had nit any ploughs and they used to have to dig and sow the gardens with spades.
    They used to dig all the gardens in winter because they used to say that it would grow the crops better at first they used to make the drills and then put out the manure .
    Then they used to spread the seeds and close the drills. After a while they would soften them again and make them into drills with a pitch-fork.If they were sowing them in a bog they would make drills with a shovel
