    several others were prepared as candlesticks when the turf was soft.
    When they had no rushes they used bog-deal. At that time bogdeal was sold in shops, and the people bought strips of it. Unlike the rushes when lighted they were put into candle-sticks, these candle-sticks were made of turf. They were prepared the same way as those for the rushes.
    Some had no light except that which shone on them from the fire.
