    It was during Christmas despite the best of care

    It was during Christmas despite the best of care, young Randle McDonnell he lost his fine mare,
    Two young lads from the village said the mare they would skin
    Their names were Phill Langan and young Jimmey Flynn.
    The charger being heavy they applied for fresh air
    And bold Jack McMannmon a daring effort he made.
    Said one to the other she was a fine cob.
    And now for her hide we should get thirty bob.
    When the job it was finished they bundled their kit
    And below in Fall Mor they both dug a pit.
    McLean being from home his dog was at large.
    To the place of concealment he made a great charge
    And destroyed the fine hide that would now cost 1.
    Old Langan went down to McLeans and he rose
