  1. Once upon a time there lived two farmers in Co. Sligo. There(sic) names were Pat and John. It happened one day that John bought cabbage from Pat. He came home well satisfied thinking he had made a great purchase.
    He set the cabbage in a garden at the house. To his surprise a few days after he noticed the cabbage had ran wild or rather into seed. When he met Pat again, he was vexed and said to him, “What sort of cabbage did you sell me, it has all ran wild.” “Begorra” said Pat, “it stopped quite enough while it was at me.”
