  1. We have potatoes growing at home. We sow 1½ acres of potatoes each year never varying. My father prepares the ground. The ground is not manured before it is turned up. In drills they are sown.
    When the ground is ready start where the first drill is to be made. Go in a straight line from one head and to another this makes a clash. Turn around and come down 28 ins outside the clash was made going up. The tow rows meet together and make a height. If using a chill plough go up in the clash was made coming down throwing the clay ot the right handside. The drill is started on the insede and finished on the outside. A plough is used. Wooden ploughs were used long ago but none of them are left now.
    The spades are bought in shops.
    First pick th potatoes for seed. They should not be very big. Put them in two or three places leaving an eye on each piece. The people do not help one another.
