fanacht ag na theach san anois fhad a’s bhéadh sé beo. Dubhairt an gadaidh go bhfanochadh acht go rabh rud amháin aige le hiarraidh air. An dtiocfadh leis leanstan d’a cheird. An dtiocfadh leis cupla cearc a ghoid an eile oidhche ó na comharsanaibh. Ní thiocfadh leis an rí é a dhiultadh. Thug sé an cead sin dhó. D’fhan an ghadaidh ag righ na hÉireann go bhfuair sé bás.

  2. There is a townland called Aghara about 1½ miles S. of Carrick and local people do not know why it got this name. About 9 years ago an Aghara man (Paddy McBrearty) showed me the remains of a "Dún Lochlannach" on his own land. There is nothing to be seen but a very faint ring of earth in a level field.
