  1. There is a small island situated in Lower Cruit, and in that island there lies the remains of a sailor.
    Many years ago the sailor's body was washed in on the rocks beside the little island. Later it was found by some people who were walking along the shore. They dug a grave in the island, and buried his body in it. The outline of the grave is still to be seen. So Uaigh an Mhairnéalaigh gets it's name in that way.
