  1. I am a jolly rover,
    I’ve roved both up and down,
    I’ve been in all the cities
    And in most of all the towns;
    I’ve been in Londonderry
    and around its northern shore
    But I never yet saw anything
    Could compare with the Hills of Barnesmore.

    I’ve been to Ballyshannon
    It’s beautiful, I know,
    It’s built upon the river bank
    Where the ocean there does flow;
    I’ve been around its border
    And around its northern shore,
    But how oft I looked behind me
    At the Hills of Barnesmore.

    I have been to Cork city,
    The sights there all to see,
    It is a very pretty place
    Along the river Lee;
    It is one of the best harbours
    That are in Erin’s shore,
    And I think it is three hundred miles
